Strategy
Our growth strategy includes:
- Continuing to expand our network of shops and online business
- International expansion
- Further technology improvements including delivering several Machine Learning enhancements to expand the consumer offering and improve risk management
- Acquisitions, particularly of existing franchise partners of the group
As connectivity in developing markets has increased, so has the proliferation of sports, the penetration of smartphones and internet access. Meridian’s proprietary technology platform and targeted product suite, has underpinned our success generating significant revenue growth in each of our key markets.
Retail operations
Our retail operations remain the largest generator of revenue for the Group and comprises 993 shops. We are focused on growing same-store-sales and expanding the player base in each market through new shop openings and existing shop refurbishments (as well as digital channels where permitted).
In addition to our rollout strategy of new shops in both existing and new jurisdictions, we have specific marketing strategies and planned improvements to BetShopManager™, our proprietary technology platform, to improve customer experience, loyalty and brand awareness and value.
In addition to sports betting, Meridian offers a number of casino and gaming products such as roulette, pontoon, blackjack and slot machine games.
Online operations
In addition to sports betting, Meridian’s online casino game offering includes approximately 600 third party games. Casino games are an area of high growth in all markets where Meridian operate and for Meridian overall.
In parallel with the ‘research strategy’ set out above, Meridian is also adopting an online-only strategy for certain jurisdictions, including: Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Greece and Columbia.
International expansion
Meridian has a strong track record of expanding into new jurisdictions, be that directly or indirectly through its franchise model and will continue to look at opportunities in regulated countries, and in countries where de-regulation opportunities are arising.
Acquisition opportunities
Meridian is intimately involved in each of its B2B market operations and where circumstances and opportunities are appropriate, we will consider acquiring our franchise partner, other operators or increasing our B2C presence in those markets.
